My two week vacation to Maine is fast approaching. It consumes my mind all day. I just can't wait to lay in the sun, go swimming and sailing, run around and barbeque.... hmm only a few more weeks. Here are some images.
Another reason why I want to take pottery classes.... ceramic colander! I saw a really great blue one with an accompanying plate at this cafe/shop in Nyack- I'm really having the opposite of buyer's remorse.
My braided jersey scarves for my etsy shop are halfway done! I pretty much just have to finish the black and white stripe ones. I'm pretty impressed with myself and how well they are turning out, epecially considering how horrible and cheap my sewing machine is.
How awesome is this bookshelf design?! It was created by a Amy Hunting who won 2nd place at the 2010 Green Furniture Awards. Her design has been picked up by Green Furniture in Sweden - click the link to check it out. It seems fairly easy to replicate... I might have to try this.
While in Croton we also stopped by this amazing book store just outside town called, Bruised Apple Books. I got quite a few great books, as I always do. But one in particular I just have to share. It's an old Esquire cookbook from the 1950s that is filled to the brim with the most amazing doodles and pictures.
On our second day in Croton - Peter and I went to a park with Cody, then we had the most amazing sailing adventure ever!!! His parents have a thistle out on the Hudson in Nyack that they race on the weekends. The boat was beautiful, the weather was perfect, afterwards we go a couple of beers in town and then headed home to have a picnic with his parents - we happened to catch a fireworks show while eating. It was a magical day.
So I just got back from an amazing vacation! I have lots of pictures to share. I went to Croton on the Hudson to see Peter's, mom's art exhibit at their library - she does amazing fabric collages. They are completely inspiring. For a short while I tried to immitate what she does, but completely failed.
